Halloween Walk

I love living in a small town. I love how the community is involved in everything. On Halloween, the kids each had a party in their classroom. To start it off, the kids were able to change into their costumes.  I was able to go and help each of them get ready.  Yes, Ben's costume has changed from the ward party. He asked one of the families here if they had football pads he could borrow. Ben then needed to wear a bigger football jersey to cover his pads.

One fun thing the elementary kids got to do was going trick-or-treating to the local main street businesses.  The younger kids are allowed to wear their costumes and parade through town.  While the older kids did activities in the gym.

Lucy and I walked the trick-or-treating route through town with Ben and Emmy. Lucy was thrilled to be with the big kids. It was cute to see Ben help guide Lucy through.
After trick-or-treating through town, the kids went back to their classrooms for cupcakes and pizza.  It was a fun way to start the Halloween celebrations for the day!

Flo and Mayhem

Brandon and I were invited to a couples Halloween party.  We had to dress-up.  Luckily, Brandon's coworkers are creative and came up with the idea for us to be Flo from Progressive and Mayhem from Allstate.   Brandon did an awesome job on his make-up. The kids were really worried about him.  Also, notice his pink weights?  He carries them around to make sure that he will keep looking like a 10!   I think he pulls it off and looks like a 10!  I did have Flo's buttons, but you can't see them very well in the pictures.  It was a great night with fun games and good people.

Fall Festival 2013

The Friday before Halloween was our ward's Fall Festival. The kids were so excited to show off their costumes and playing with their friends.   By the way, Ben's Detroit Tiger football costume is one that my brother wore years ago!

Lucy's buddy was a cowboy and she was an Indian. We had to get a picture!

To start the night off, we had pizza for dinner.

Next, came the different carnival games.    The kids were able to participate in a fishing booth, glow-stick toss on to a witch's hat, a fun Halloween craft, a toilet paper toss through a toilet lid,  and a cupcake walk.

The kids each started the night with a set amount of tickets for the games, in order to be able to get more tickets to do the games, they had to perform service for someone by refilling their drink, bringing them a cupcake or helping a younger child and picking up trash.

There was also a pumpkin carving contest.  Emmy wanted to carve a pumpkin to enter. She wanted me to carve BYU dancers on the pumpkin (since she just saw a BYU ballroom dance concert and fell in love with them), however I told her that I would just do BYU.  Emmy then decided to deck her pumpkin out  with glittery Halloween stickers and ribbons she received for her birthday.  Emmy won the award of having the most creative pumpkin.

To end the night, we had a candy dash.  All the kids were divided up into various groups based on their age. Candy was dropped out for each group for the kids to grab when it was there turn.

It was a fun and exhausting night since primary (my calling) was in charge.  Overall, it was a great night.

Pumpkin Carving 2013

On the Monday before Halloween we carved pumpkins. The kids were so excited!  It was so sweet, one of the elder gentlemen in our ward brought over pumpkins for my kids a week ago.  Before we even started carving, we had each of the kids draw a picture of what they would like their pumpkin to look like.

I helped the kids carve the tops off of their pumpkin and helped them clean out the goop in the inside. I loved how happy my kids were while doing this. It was fun to know that we were creating fun traditions and memories with our little family.

I was surprised that Lucy loved every minute of cleaning out her pumpkin. She didn't really want any help at all and was bugged at Ben that he would even think about touching her little pumpkin.

Brandon was a trooper and the carver. He helped the kids carve their pumpkins based on the drawings they drew and did a great job. He went above and beyond.  Emmy's pumpkin even had a bow in it!  Ben's pumpkin had crazy hair and Hyrum's pumpkin had vampire teeth!

Overall it was a great night of laughing happy kids doing fun gross things!
