Shipwreck Cove

For Hyrum's 5th birthday, he wanted to have a Pirate birthday. We had his friend birthday party on the 14th of November. Each guests received a burned inviation( to make it look like it was from a pirate) to invite them to the party.

One the front door, we had a sign welcoming them to"Shipwreck Cove...Enter if you Dare!"When the guests first arrived, we had them color pirate pictures.
LtoR Hyrum, Emma, Brandon, Ben, Ryan Emmy, Dylan Josalyn, Chloe, Aleece
Lto R Kelsie, Lexi, Delanie, Skye ,Tucker, and Boo
Lto R Claire, Maggie and Alanna

After all the guests arrived, we separated into two groups and played "Treasure Toss" and "X Marks the Spot!" In "Treasure Toss" the kids would try to toss gold coin or a necklace into a whole in a treasure box. Brandon made a treasure box out of a cardboard box for the boys to toss coins in and for the girls to toss necklaces in. The game "X Marks the Spot! " is the same game as "Pin the Tail on the Donkey" except the person with their eyes closed tries to put a treasure box on the x on the pirate map. We rotated the groups so everyone was able to play both games.
The next two activities we did were "Treasure Hunt" and "Battle Ship." The girls stayed inside the house first and went on a treasure hunt to find their goody bags to take home. While the girls were doing the treasure hunt, the boys divided up into two teams and threw balloons back and forth from ship (Black Pearl) to ship (Flying Dutchman); at least that was the plan. The balloons popped as soon as they hit the grass (I had around 15 balloons). The game was switched to Red Rover. Once again we rotated the groups so the boys would have a turn going on the treasure hunt and the girls would have a turn to go out and play Red Rover.

After the games, Hyrum opened his presents. He received many wonderful things from his friends that he has just LOVED!Cute Claire

When the presents were opened, we finished the night by singing "Happy Birthday" to Hyrum and having him blow out his candles and eating cake and ice cream.

Brandon slaved over the pirate cake. I think he did a fabulous job. He does such a great job making the cakes for the kids' birthdays. The cakes always look fantastic!
Hyrum loved every minute of his party. Thank you again to all of those who came!
