Fun with Cousins

After school was out, the very first trip we went on at the end of May was to see Brandon's brother's family in Denver.   We were able to help out with the graduation party for our oldest nephew.

At the party, there was a nacho bar and an ice cream bar. Lucy's LOVED the sour cream.

We all had a great time that weekend. It was fun to talk and hang out.  The kids loved playing games together and were perfectly content to run around and just be silly.

It was a great weekend!

Time with Lucy

Lucy has always been my little buddy. While the kids were gone to school, we did everything together.  Lucy loves to read books, do puzzles, bubbles, file folder games, dancing (she pretends she is a "rina", AKA ballerina) and playing outside with me.

She is also a big fan of side walk chalk.

One of the days the kids were at school, she and I spent time drawing shapes on the sidewalk. After we drew a few shapes in different colors, I would ask her to find the blue circle or green triangle. It was a way that we could focus on shapes and colors at the same time.

I loved the little circles she drew; especially the ones that she made into a happy face.

Later in the day, we painted, which is another one of  Lucy's favorite things to do.  She thinks painting is wonderful.  This time we painted, we used sponges in different shapes.

The dog shirt she is wearing is one of her favorite shirts to wear.

I love this little girl and I am grateful for the moments that I have to focus my loving just  on her.

Last Day of School

The end of May brought the end of the school year for the kids. The end of the school year always makes me feel sad; I don't like the thought of my kids growing older.

First Day of School

Last Day of School. The part that makes me smile is the fact that after I took these pictures, I noticed that Hyrum was wearing Ben's shorts and Ben was wearing Hyrum's shorts.
We wen to Sonic after school to celebrate the start of summer.
Each of my kids had a great school year. Each of them did well in school, they learned new things, they tried their best and improved in many areas.  Each of my kids had wonderful teachers who made my kids feel important and really helped them improve in areas that they were struggling and work on their strengths too.  That being said, our family was very excited for our summer time adventures to begin!

BUGS

Towards the end of first grade, my cute Ben and Emmy made these fun bugs at school.  We decided to take pictures of them, since the bugs were to hard to save.

The kids made many cute and fun things in first grade. One of Ben and Emmy's favorite unit was the owl unit when they were able to dissect owl pellets. I am grateful for their wonderful teacher who helped make first grade exciting and enjoyable for them.

Field Day 2014

Another exciting end of the school year activity that the kids love is Field Day.  The PE teacher puts a variety of stations for the kids to rotate through and do each activity.  My kids love it!!

Hyrum took first place in the basketball rotation and the water relay. Hyrum's favorite rotation was basketball.
Emmy's favorite rotation was also one that she took first place in and it was jump rope.
Ben took first place in the Frisbee toss, 50 yard dash, and jump roping.  Ben's favorite rotation was the 50 yard dash.

Some other fun events were: feather balancing, long jump, shoe fling and high jump.

Lucy loved being at the school and cheering on her kids and playing with her friends.
Brandon and I were both able to go to Field Day and cheer on our kids.  I love being able to go to events and cheer my kids on!
