Basketball Camp

Back in January and February the kids participated in a basketball camp put on by the janitor at the school.

Mr. Fred does a great job teaching the kids the basics and good technique. Plus, the kids had a great time playing basketball with their friends!

I didn't take any pictures of them actually at the camp, but these are the pictures that I took at the awards ceremony.

Hyrum participated in a little demonstration at the front of the group. He was a little shy, but I think quite pleased to be up in front and to be chosen.

The kids enjoyed their time playing basketball!

Valentine's Day Dinner 2015

One of our favorite things about Valentine's Day is our annual family Valentine's Day dinner.

As tradition, we sent the kids out of the room and decorated the table in style. The kids had to line up youngest to oldest before they could come to the feast.

The kids were so excited to come out and see their Valentine's Day present Brandon and I got for them.  Each of the kids received a book from their recent school book fair they were wanting and a box of chocolates.

We were lucky to have Grandma and Papa enjoy the feast with us.
The dinner was delicious! We had rolls, mashed potatoes and gravy, a yummy meat, vegtatables and a sparkly drink. For dessert, we ate Danish Dessert.

The kids were thrilled to receive their Valentine's from my grandparents that they sent with my parents for the kids.

It was a sweet evening to celebrate the love we have for each other!

Valentine's Cookies

Around Valentine's Day, we were able to make tasty Valentine's sugar cookies.

Of course, my two girls were right there wanting to help!  We were lucky that grandma even got in on the action and helped!

After the cookies were decorated, the boys came with grandma and I to deliver the cookies to someof the elderly women in our ward.

It was a great activity to help us remember that true happiness is gained from serving others.

Papa and Grandma Visit 2015

My parents made the trek out to visit us in February, right around Valentine's Day.

We love it when they come to visit us.

Some of our favorite things to do with grandma and papa are:

To snuggle and read books

Play lots of games
Paint finger nails. Grandma was brave and let Emmy paint her nails.

Just be silly

We always have a wonderful time when Grandma and Grandpa come!

Valentine's Boxes

The kids had an absolute blast creating and designing their Valentine's boxes. We found some fun ideas for Valentine's boxes online and then went to work.

While the kids were at school, I spray painted the boxes for the kids.

After the boxes had dried, and daddy was home from work, we did a big group project of finishing the boxes.

The boxes turned out fantastic and the kids couldn't have been prouder of their creation they made with their hard work and creativity.

Blue and Gold Banquet

Back in February, the boys had their Blue and Gold Banquet for scouting.  The boys were so excited for this big event. Both Hyrum and Ben worked on fun things to perform for the night.

Hyrum's pack worked on a variety of skits that the kids still try to imitate and perform around the house.
Ben's pack worked on singing some scout songs.

Overall, it was a fun night to celebrate scouting. Brandon and I are grateful for the amazing scout leaders that help our boys!

Star Student Hyrum

In February of 2015, Hryum was recognized for being the start student for his class.

Hyrum works hard and always tries his best. Also, he is a great friend and helper to the other students in his class.

I was quite excited for him to receive this award and so was he! I am proud for how hard he works in school. This past school year he really took off on his reading.  He destroyed his reading goals! He also worked hard to improve his hand writing. I am proud of him for finding ways to improve and be better.
  I love my handsome Hyrum!

Animal Reports

One thing Ben and Emmy did this past school year was to work on a report about an animal of their choice.   The kids worked very hard on their project.  They looked up their animals in books and found out information about the creatures. They then put together their own written report complete with pictures and a glossary.  The kids also made a diorama to showcase their animal in their natural environment.

Ben picked the wolverine to do his report on.

Emmy picked the scarlet macaw to become an expert on.

The teachers invited the parents to come to the class and listen to the kids talk about their animal. The kids had to prepare a note card with interesting facts about their animals.

Both Ben and Emmy did a wonderful job! I was very proud of how hard they worked while they tried something new and learn something they didn't know.

Sledding

One day, toward the end of January, my friend asked me if I wanted to take our kids sledding. I said YES! We packed up the van with little kids, sleds, and lunch.

It took us about a hour to reach to the sledding site. We took a few pictures, Lucy went down the hill once and the other kids did not want to go sledding down the hill at all.

We ate our lunch in the car and then went home.

I have come to realize that some of the best laid plans don't happen the way I envision, but at least I try!

Lucy did look cute in her snow gear!
