Happy Halloween

In the pictures below the kids are wearing their cute Halloween shirts my mom got them. Emmy picked out her outfit combination for the day. I decided that it wasn't that big of a deal that she wanted to wear everything Halloween if it made her feel pretty and festive. All three of the kids LOVE Halloween and were looking forward to the holiday.Lucy wore her BOO-tiful baby shirt. I maybe biased, but I do think she is a beautiful baby! Those cheeks and lips are so kissable!
I am planning on posting soon all the details about our Halloween fun.

Painting Pumpkins

On October 24th, for Family Home Evening, we painted pumpkins. Earlier in the day, Ben and Emmy went with Lorri to pick out pumpkins. The kids picked out three big pumpkins and one small pumpkin. The kids were so excited to paint their pumpkins! They loved every minute of painting and made sure that they covered every square inch of their pumpkin with paint. I painted a pink L with purple polka dots and a yellow bow for little Lucy's pumpkin. It was a fun night and were happy that Aunt Lorri could be with us while we painted our pumpkins.

3 Weeks Old

On October 25th Lucy turned three weeks old! Time has gone by so quickly. I am trying to capture every second with her. Lucy had a follow-up visit to the doctor on the 25th to make sure that she was gaining enough weight. Lucy gained a full 1 lbs 3 oz since her last visit to the doctor a week ago, coming in now at 9lbs 13 oz. The doctor commented on how you can tell that she has gained weight in her chin(s) and chest area. The doctor also called Lucy a big girl and that she was very happy with how Lucy is progressing. These pictures were taken on the 25th when Lucy was exactly three weeks old. Don't mind the wrinkles on the face, she and I were snuggling before these pictures were taken.Lucy still LOVES every minute of bath time...except anything that involves getting dressed.

Lucy goes to bed about 10:30 and wakes up about 3:00 or 4:00 to eat and then I wake her up around 9:30 or so.

I think Lucy has started to learn how to smile. However, maybe the smiles could still be from gas. She will smile at us numerous times when she is alert and awake.Lucy still LOVES to be held and snuggled.

Lucy gets the hiccups often. She also got hiccups often while I was pregnant with her.

I love the noises Lucy makes when she sleeps.

I think Lucy maybe my first child with blue eyes. I know her eyes can still change, but her eyes are much bluer than any of my other kids were. The kids still LOVE to give Lucy hugs and kisses. They also write songs and love letters for her.

We are so lucky to have little Lucy in our family!

Movie Night in the Tent

For Family Home Evening one night in the month of October, on the 17th, we had a movie night in the tent. Brandon set our tent up in the play room and we rented a movie from redbox to watch together. The kids thought that it was so awesome to watch a movie and sleep in the tent. Brandon even slept in the tent up stairs with the kids. Lucy and I slept downstairs even though we did go upstairs for a time to watch the movie with the family. It was the perfect night for a sleep over in the tent since Hyrum's Fall Break started that day and he had the whole week off from school. It was such a fun relaxing night as a family.

Grandma and Papa's Visit

I was so lucky to have my parents come visit after I had Lucy. They were a huge help! They held Lucy, read stories, played games, did puzzles, watch movies, gave Lucy baths. My parents and the kids went to the children's museum, went and saw Cars 2, got donuts, went out for some Memphis BBQ and pizza. My mom and dad also took the kids to their first soccer game of the season, soccer practice, church etc. I am sure they did other fun things, but I took a few naps while they were here and missed a lot of the fun. It is safe to say that I wouldn't have survived that first chunk of time if they hadn't of come. Lucy had some difficult nights during her first little bit of life and I was grateful to pass her off to my parents in the morning so I could take a nap. Also, I think by having them here it really helped Hyrum, Ben and Emmy adjust to having a new baby in the home a little easier.

I love this picture for a few reasons. First, my beautiful mom, who just had a birthday, is in the photo. Second, I love how the picture shows Lucy's favorite way to sleep/cuddle, legs scrunched up under her on someones chest. Third, I love how this picture shows off her beautiful dark hair!I am so grateful that they were able to come and see Lucy and help me out. It was really hard for me to say good-bye to them when we dropped them off at the airport.

Lucy's First Walk

On Sunday, October 9th, Lucy went on her first walk in her stroller around the neighborhood with the family. To be honest, it wasn't that long of a walk. I was less than a week out from having her and didn't last long. Emmy was so excited to be by the stroller and to help push Lucy. The boys were being silly and pushed each other in the umbrella stroller. I didn't snap any pictures, but my parents went on the walk with us as well. Lucy slept through it all!

However, it was a beautiful October night, not too hot or cold and the walk helped the kids get some of their wiggles out.

Lucy's First Bath

On October 8th, when Lucy was 4 days old, she had her first bath at home. Just as her older siblings before her, her first bath was given to her by her Papa. Of course, she had a large audience for her first bath experience at home. She wasn't too fond of getting undressed for the bath. However, she did enjoy getting her hair washed and was very alert and content while her body was in the nice warm water in the sink.
We received a package just in time from my cousin Lissa that had the cute elephant outfit that Lucy wore after her nice bath.

Lucy LOVED snuggling with Papa after her bath. Thank you again Papa for coming to Tennessee to give LuLu her first bath!
