Fun in the Tent

Earlier in the month of May, I took the chairs from the kitchen table and blankets and made a fun fort for Ben and Emmy to play in. The kids were so cute bringing in their toys, notebooks and other fun things. Ben and Emmy had such a fun time playing in their tent. Their favorite is for me to be the monster and pretend to come and get them.

Ben and Emmy even had lunch in their tent that day. Lucy and I even joined in on the fun and had lunch with them in the tent. It was such a fun day just to enjoy being their mom and spending some time treasuring these moments of their childhood. I consider myself so lucky and blessed that I am able to be a stay-at-home mom.

Sprinkler Park

We went to the Sprinkler Park today with some friends. The sky was a little over cast, it made it the perfect heat for me, but a little cold for the kids. However, it didn't stop the kids from having a fantastic time.  The kids loved playing in the sprinklers and filling up water balloons and then throwing the balloons at each other.

Lucy looked adorable in her new swimsuit. Grandma B. gave her this one.  I loved how the lady at the park called Lucy thighs gravy. Lucy does have some adorable cheeks, thighs, smile, you name it. She seemed pretty content when I would take her to the sprinklers that were slow flowing and have her stick her pudgy hands in them.

The sprinkler park will definitely be something that we will miss when we move as well as the fun friends who went with us.

Hyrum's Art Exhibit

On May 1st, Hyrum's school had an open house night to showcase the fantastic art work the students had done during the school year.  Hyrum was so excited to bring us to his school and show us his cute pieces that he worked so hard on in art class. He had two different pictures in the exhibit. I thought he did a wonderful job.

I LOVE seeing the fun things that Hyrum creates at school and I LOVE how excited he is to show us his creations. Ben and Emmy are always so excited to go to Hyrum's school whether it be going to eat lunch with Hyrum (which we did about every other week) or going to something like the art exhibit.

Of course, Lucy came too.
It was fun and quick activity to celebrate Hyrum and some of the neat things he has done at school this year.

Marshmallows

I know that I am WAY behind on posting on here.  We just have had so many things that have happened recently. It seems like our life keeps getting busier and busier.  Hopefully one day I will be caught up.  Until then, I had to post about this silly adventure that happened today. This morning, Emmy was creating various letters with  Lucy's yogurt melts.  I then got the idea to break out the marshmallows to make Bubble Gum/ Sight Words for her to read. Emmy or myself would write out a word with marshmallows for the other person to guess. Of course, she was promised that afterwards she would be able to eat the marshmallows.  It was cute to see the little words she came up with.  The BYU she created made me smile. She did a fantastic job creating her words and guessing the ones I created  (Didn't do her hair yet for the day before the picture...)
While Emmy and I were enjoying our impromptu game, Lucy snagged the bag of marshmallows and dumped them EVERYWHERE!

She was in HEAVEN eating those tasty treats and so proud of herself.
I wish I would have left the mess until I took pictures of her with her big accomplishment.
I couldn't help but laugh out loud when I saw her. We love our Lucy!

One Year Older

I had a fabulous birthday this year. My parents were able to celebrate with us. To start the morning off, all FOUR of my kids came in and snuggled me in bed.

Next, we went to Sophie's Donuts to grab some donuts to bring home fore breakfast.  Of course, we stopped at Kroger to get some chocolate milk on the way home. After dropping the kids off to school, my parents took me to a local Mexican Restaurant for lunch.  Then, after we picked up Ben and Emmy, the girls went to go and get pedicures. Next, my dad and I went and saw Hunger Games together.  After we picked Hyrum up from school, we went to Chuck E Cheese and then to Stevie B's.

To finish the night we came home and I opened presents. I was completely spoiled. Brandon was so cute and left stuff around in various places for me to find throughout the day.  Sean and Tracy gave me some wonderful smelling things for our house and car, which I have loved.

I also received money from Grandma and Grandpa B. and Ethel and Richard.  My parents gave me some cute clothes and some books.

It is safe to say that I had an awesome birthday.

Poor Brandon. He has gotten the raw end of the deal for his past two birthdays. For his birthday last year, I was sick with Lucy and this year I had mastitis on my birthday.  I had such plans for his birthday that didn't happen.  I was so disappointed. Hopefully next year things will work out better.  However, I did make him orange rolls for breakfast. I also went shopping earlier with the kids to pick out some treats that he likes as well as some new dress shirts for work.  The kids were so excited to pick out presents for their dad for his birthday.

Brandon also was given some movies that he has wanted.

Brandon also received money  from his parents and Grandma and Grandpa B. My parents gave Brandon some new shorts and socks.

Also, I can't forget the Nook that my Grandma N. and Uncle Nate gave us for our birthdays.  We have loved that thing!

So, here is to another year of love, laughter and happiness for the both of us.

Hyrum's First Grade Music Program

On April 10th, Hyrum's class did their first grade music program.  Hyrum was so excited that both my parents would be there and Brandon.  Hyrum was so cute when he marched in and oh so handsome. You could tell he was nervous, but he tried not to show it. I thought he did a marvelous job.

Of course, he wore his BYU tie. He has worn that tie every chance he has had since my parents gave it to him in April.

I was so impressed with the music program.  Every song the kids would change to a different instrument. I thought it was amazing how many different instruments Hyrum (and the other kids in his class) got to play.  You could tell that all of the kids learned a lot in their music class this year.

You could tell that the kids worked hard on their program and did a great job.
Chicken Dance

Hyrum's part he memorized for the program about thunderstorms.

Hyrum warned me that What a Wonderful World might make me cry.  One of Hyrum's favorites- Bunny Boogie

After the program, we went back into Mrs. Cande's room for some refreshments. In there, she had a book put together of drawings from the kids in the class set to the lyrics of  What a Wonderful World.

Hyrum has had such a fantastic year this year. His reading has improved by leaps and bounds.  He does really well in Math.
Hyrum has enjoyed learning about various topics in school. We were so lucky to have Mrs. Cande for a teacher.
She made first grade learning fun, exciting and worthwhile. Hyrum has loved every minute of being in her class.  I don't think we could have asked for a better year for our sweet Handsome Hyrum.

Our Family Bird House

During the month of April, Hyrum was assigned from his teacher to make a bird house with his family that represents his family. We all worked together to make the bird house.
After some thought, we decided to make the birds for the house using our finger prints. Below the prints go Ben, Emmy, Hyrum, Mom, Dad, Lucy.   The kids each decorated their little birds.

We decorated around the house with stickers of things we like to do as a family together.  We put stickers on of various sports balls, ice cream, planes (for trips to Utah) and boats (for Lake Powell). As well as drawing of an UNO card to represent games.  Hyrum was also insistent on wanting gummy worms around the bird house.  Hyrum also was instructed to write three sentences of why someone would want to live in our bird house.

The three sentences were:
A beautiful home to live in
Lots of worms to eat.
We are a bunch of love birds.
I thought our bird house turned out great.  It was fun to do the project as a family.
Of course, what would a post be without a silly picture of Hyrum. He loves being silly.
