Ben is Six

My Ben turned six in October. It just blows my mind that my sweet Ben Boo (he tells me only mom can call him that) is six.

Ben is a happy kid. He is everyone and anyone's friend.   He has a zest for life and excitement. Ben has such a great sense of humor and loves to be silly and have fun.

Ben loves his brother Hyrum and looks up to him. He is and always has been Hyrum's shadow.

Ben loves to play with his Emmy too. One of the first facts that he tells people about is that he and Emmy are twins. He takes pride in the fact that she is his twin sister.

Ben loves Lucy and is always trying to make her laugh.

Ben is such a talented reader. Recently he is obsessed about the calories that he is consuming so he is always reading the label on everything and anything.  Ben's teacher has him meeting with the reading specialist so that he can be challenged.

At school, each grade did races, Ben was the fastest boy in Kindergarten and did the most sit-ups (I think).

Ben is a great soccer player. He runs fast and plays hard. He is very excited to start a basketball clinic soon.

Ben LOVES to play with Beyblades(spinning tops), especially with Hyrum.

Ben LOVES mustard. He always wants a mustard sandwich.  He doesn't understand why other people don't like mustard the way he does.

I love it when Ben gets really excited and has lots to say. He won't stop to take a breath until he has finished telling you everything that he wants to say.

I love his smile and his big brown eyes. I love how he tells me randomly that he loves me.

Below is the interview that I did with my sweet Ben.

Emmy is Six!

I can't believe that my sweet little Emmy is six.  She is growing up way too fast! Oh how I love my dear Emmy.

Emmy is a quiet, but a fiery person.  She has a very determined and independent personality.  Emmy is shy at first until you get to know her.    She knows what she wants and she goes for it.

Emmy loves it when her hair is bumpy (after I put braids in her hair and she sleeps on them).
Emmy is a soccer super star. She really gets into the game and plays aggressive.

Emmy is a beautiful dancer. I love watching her in her dance class. She dances with a smile from ear to ear. I can tell that she is loving every minute.

Emmy is a reader. Her reading abilities have really improved and grown this past little bit.  I am constantly amazed at the words she is able to read.  Emmy loves going to school and is having a wonderful time in kindergarten.

Emmy gives the best hugs ever. She is a lover.  I love the little love notes that she writes for me, they make me smile.

Emmy has a beautiful smile.

Emmy is an amazing and talented artist. She is constantly drawing and coloring and creating anything and everything. She amazes me. I am sure I would enjoy her artistic ability more if she would clean-up after she makes her creations.
Emmy is turning very independent. She insist on doing her own hair most of the time and has been picking out clothes for years.

Emmy still loves a good pair of shoes. Some girls change clothes multiple times a day, Emmy changes her shoes.  She likes shoes with glitter the best!

Emmy takes good care of Lucy. They are pals. Emmy loves her little sister Lulu.  Emmy and Ben are also really sweet with each other and play together nicely. Hyrum and Emmy have some work to do.

Ben's Hotwheel Birthday Party

About four hours after Emmy's party ended, Ben's party begun.  Ben decided that he would have a Hotwheels birthday party.

When the kids first arrived, we had them decorate note cards into driver's licenses and color a Hotwheel coloring page.

We then went outside and did tire races and Red Light, Green Light and a tire toss with balls(like a bean bag toss).

We also divided the teams into two groups and did relay races full of jumping jacks, mountain climbers etc.
We also made two cars out of cardboard boxes and had the kids race in the cars.

We then went inside, divided the kids into two groups and played pin the wheel on the car and Don't Eat the Car.
Next, Ben opened up some fun presents that his friends so graciously gave him.

Brandon also designed Ben's cake and I think the cake turned out awesome!

Then, we sang to Happy Birthday to Ben and ate cake and ice cream.  Just like Emmy's party, we had a little sundae bar for the kids to add sprinkles, oreos, raspberries and other yummy treats on top of their ice cream.

It was a fun and energy filled birthday party with all the boys.  It was a great time to celebrate our Ben.

Emmy's Fancy Nancy Birthday Party

The day after Emmy's birthday, we had a Fancy Nancy party to celebrate her turning six. Emmy loves the Fancy Nancy books and we thought it would be fun for her to have a totally girly party.

When the guest arrived we had them sign their name fancy.
Next, we had the girls color a Fancy Nancy picture while they waited for their turn to become fancy.  Each of the girls had their nails painted, make-up put on and even glitter sprayed in their hair. They also were able to chose a tutu and a  fancy hair bow to wear.

After everyone was glamored up, we read a couple stories about Fancy Nancy so that the girls who haven't heard about Fancy Nancy would be able to learn about her.

Next, we divided the girls into two groups and played pin the clutch on the purse and Don't Eat Fancy Nancy.  After everyone had a turn, we rotated the groups.
Afterwards, we did a relay race with the girls. The girls were divided into two teams. There was a pile of dress-up clothes at the other side of the room.  In the pile there were shoes, skirts, boa, crown, wand etc.  The girls had to run to the other side of the room, get dressed up and turn around three times before they could run back and touch the next person in line.  The girls seemed to really enjoy this game.

Next, Emmy was given so many wonderful presents from her generous friends that were so kind to come to her party.

After presents, we had cake and ice cream. Once again, Brandon made the cake and didn't disappoint. He did such a wonderful job.

The girls were each given choices to make their ice cream fancy.  We had a bunch of different toppings for the girls to pick from.
The girls were sent out the door with a little goodie bag of lip gloss, nail polish, and other fun girly things.

We could have done some other things, but that is all that I remember.

Overall, it was a great party and fun to celebrate our sweet Emmy.
