Egg Drop

For the Fourth of July we went to Blanding, Utah and spent the holiday with my dad's side of the family. There is something amazing about a small town Fourth of July.  We had such a great time.  We got there on the 3rd.  That night we had a family egg drop. My dad's sister Julene had a huge bag or random things that she dumped in the living room for people to use for the egg drop.  A time limit was set and everyone worked hard on their contraption that would keep their egg safe.

Ben and Papa were a team(and Lucy)

Emily and Millie were a team

Brandon and Hyrum were a team.

After time was up, we headed to a local tower by some historic pioneer ground to do our big egg drop! Hyrum insisted we sing the Star Spangled Banner along the way since it was almost the Fourth of July!

All three of our eggs survived the crash.

Everyone who's egg survived the drop.

It was such a fun way to start of the Fourth of July festivities.

No Training Wheels

On July 2nd Emmy was brave.  She decided she wanted her training wheels off and didn't look back.  She was a pro at riding her bike and has continued to improve.

We tried taking the training wheels off last summer.  She was scared and nervous so we put the training wheels back on.  Emmy has done such a great job riding her bike.  I am so proud of how brave she was and how hard she has worked to become even better at riding her bike.
I just realized that I never posted pictures from Ben learning to ride his two wheeler last summer. In August of 2012 Ben learned to ride a bike without training wheels. Like always, Ben wants to be like his brother.  Ben took of his training wheels and rides really well. He hardly had any crashes.  Ben was quite proud when he was able to ride a big kid bike. The pictures below are from August 2012.

Trip to San Diego

At the end of June, Brandon and I went on a wonderful trip to San Diego to celebrate our ten year anniversary and so Brandon could go to a work seminar.

The hotel that we stayed in was right on the bay.   During the day, while Brandon was in his classes, I spent the time working out, exploring downtown San Diego, reading my book on the veranda of the hotel.  It was wonderful to have some time to myself!
The first night we got to San Diego we went to a Padres' baseball game. It was a great game. It went into overtime.  We bought baseball bat souvenirs for our boys.

The next night, we went out to dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe, spent some time on the beach, had frozen yogurt and went and saw Fiddler on the Roof. The play was amazing.  It was one of my favorite parts of the trip.

The next day, after Brandon's seminar was over, we headed north to the San Diego temple.  That was my first time inside that temple and it is beautiful!  We were lucky enough to have a worker allow us to look at various places inside the temple.  We then headed to our next hotel which was right on the beach.  That night we picked up some Panda Express and had the most romantic sunset walk on the beach! We were in heaven!

Our final day in California was spent going to a movie and on the beach.  We were able to boogie board together and had a great time!  Being on the beach was Brandon's favorite part of the trip.

We are very grateful for my mom who came and watch the kids so we could go!

I am so grateful to be married to a better husband. I love Brandon with all my heart. He is a good man who loves me for me.  It was wonderful to go on this trip and reconnect with each other and fall more in love.   Happy ten years, Brandon! I hope we have many more together!
