Nashville Trip

We went to Nashville for a quick trip on March 18th and 19th. Brandon's sister Lorri and her husband Dwight were visiting Nashville for a convention. We had such a great time there. Lorri and Dwight stayed in the Grand Ole Opry Hotel in Nashville. When we first go there, we spent a lot of time discovering the "zoo" there as my kids call it. The hotel was beautiful.Next, we went to dinner at Cracker Barrel. Hyrum was so pleased to find that they had a checker board that guests could play with. Dwight was nice enough to indulge Hyrum in a game.
After we got ice cream at McDonalds, we went back to the hotel to catch the water fountain show. It was amazing.
Before we went back to our hotel, we played a fun game of Settlers with Dwight and Lorri while the the kids watched some television.

On Sunday we woke up and went to church. After, we went back to Lorri and Dwight's hotel to spend some more time with them before we headed back to Memphis.
We enjoyed that quick little trip to Nashville to see Dwight and Lorri.

My Hyrum...

For awhile, Hyrum was asking me if it was Fast Sunday each Sunday. Eventually, he asked on Fast Sunday in March and I told him that indeed it was Fast Sunday. He then told me that he wanted to fast and go without breakfast and the snack I pack for church. I was taken back because what 6 year old would want to fast and actually do it.

Hyrum then told me that he wanted to bare his testimony in Sacrament Meeting. I said okay, but wasn't sure if he would do it. When we arrived at Church he kept asking me if it was time to go up. Finally, he was able to walk up to the pulpit in his suit, carrying his scriptures, to share his testimony. He looked so cute! Brandon was up on the stand, since he is in the Bishopric, and could help Hyrum if needed. However, Brandon only helped Hyrum a little by saying, "What else?" All the words that came out of Hyrum's mouth as he shared his testimony were words that he wanted to share about the feelings and emotions he was experiencing in his heart.

It was a touching moment for me as a parent. I could feel such a sweet spirit that surrounded my gentle Handsome Hyrum. Not unlike the Spirit I felt when he was born. I could truly feel that Hyrum was a remarkable Child of God.

Spring

We have been loving Spring here in Memphis. In fact, it started to feel like Spring in February. The blossoms on the trees that I love so much have already come and gone.

The kids have loved playing and exploring in our backyard. I have already had fist full of flowers brought to me that only a mother could love. The kids thought that it was so cool when they found this huge long worm in the dirt. Oh, the joys of Spring!

Valentine's Day

We had a great Valentine's Day. We started the day off with pink pancakes and and eggs for breakfast.
The kids worked hard (a couple days before) to make me beautiful valentines.
Cute crafts were made at school. That night, we had a fabulous dinner. We had twice baked potatoes, fillet minion, vegtables, rolls, shrimp and chocolate covered strawberries.

Brandon and I gave each of the kids a coloring book and a balloon for Valentine's Day. I gave Brandon a fondant rolling pin and he gave me a movie.

I can't forget that Hyrum and Ben gave Emmy flowers and I received some beautiful flowers from Brandon. The boys thought they were so cool giving flowers to their special sister.

Overall, it was a fun holiday for our little family. It was wonderful to see the love that everyone has for each other.
