The Friday night before school started, we headed up to Colorado
Springs, splurged and stayed the night in a hotel and went to the zoo
the next morning.
To
start our morning at the zoo off, we stopped by the giraffes and we
were able to feed them. It was an amazing experience and I think a
favorite of the kids and Brandon. Lucy enjoyed watching the giraffes
from a distance.
It
was teddy bear day at the zoo on the day we went. Since the kids
brought their animals, we were able to get in at a discounted price.
Also, the zoo had paramedics there were the kids were able to take their
animals to and help the paramedics help their animals.
We saw some other fun animals and things at the zoo.
The monkeys were pretty active when we saw them at the zoo. We spent a lot of time watching them.
I loved it when Lucy pretended to be a monkey!
Lucy
absolutely loved riding around in the train at the zoo. I loved that
she would wave at me every time the train around and that my Ben and
Emmy would smile at me.
Ben was thrilled when it was finally his turn to ride in the front of the train.
The kids thought it was pretty awesome to touch a lizard.
Lucy and Emmy loved seeing the hippos!
Ben's
favorite animal was the wolf, but he was disappointed he didn't see it.
He also thought it was cool to see a mountain goat. Ben was telling us
as we were going to the zoo that he bet we would see a lot of animals
who live in the mountain since the zoo was on the side of the mountain.
It was pretty funny.
To
end our time at the zoo, we each rode the lift. The kids thought it was
pretty neat to see the zoo and the city from a higher view.
We then headed to theater to watch How to Train Your Dragon 2. The kids loved the movie and loved eating the popcorn and candy.
To
finish the night, before we headed home, we stopped at Cici's Pizza for
dinner. It was such a great day and a fun way to end our crazy and busy
summer by having some special time as a family.

End of Summer Fun- Part 1
One of the things we try to do as a family is that before school
starts up each year, we have a few days to go and do fun things as a
family.
On the Wednesday before school started, we headed up to Salida to have some fun.
We ate a nice wood pizza restaurant. The kids LOVED the food their; especially, Lucy. She ate over three pieces of pizza! Can you tell that we have an eye doctor in the family? Everyone is wearing sun glasses!
One thing that was really neat for the kids to see was a pro bike race that came through the town while we were there. We all loved watching the crazy, intense and amazing scene of over a 100 bikers and their drivers come barreling through the town with horns blaring. It was a site to behold. Lucy absolutely loved the motorcycles coming through the town and just laughed.
After seeing the cyclists, we found a place to have tasty ice cream.
To finish our day in Salida, we played a round of miniature golf. It was so much fun. Lucy was such a hoot to watch.
Emmy did really well and had some great hits.
If I remember correctly, I think Ben scored three holes-in-one!
Hyrum scored a hole in one too!
There was this really cool hole where you hit the ball into the water and it carries the ball to hole. That was the kids' favorite hole and did that one a few times.
It was a great day to enjoy time together as a family.

Summer Baseball
This summer we spent a lot of time at the baseball fields between practices and games.
Ben and Emmy played on a younger coach pitch team and Hyrum played on the older coach pitch team.
Ben usually played short stop and did really well. He loved every minute! Of course he could be seen on the field jumping up and down when the game was getting exciting.
I was so proud of Emmy. She decided last year not to play, so this year we had to put in a lot of time practicing. Emmy worked so hard to do well in baseball and by the end of the season she was rocking it.
For the most part, Hyrum played first base and sometimes he would play catcher. He played hard and learned and improve this past season.
The pictures from this post were taken the same day of their first game.
