On the night of the Fourth, after our crazy run around exciting day, we went to the local Blanding park for some good country patriotic music. While we hung out with family on the grass enjoying the serenade, the kids were busy exploring and creating with their glow sticks.
I must say that Blanding puts together a pretty awesome firework show for a small town. It was a great way to finish off our Fourth of July celebration!

Fishing in Blanding
On the Fourth of July, our little family and my parents went fishing at a local reservoir. The kids had a great time. Brandon and my dad spent their time patiently repeatedly baiting everyone's hooks.
Of course Lucy had to get in on the action and insisted on holding her own pole.
The kids also enjoyed making a tower of rocks! They were pretty proud of their accomplishment.
The only downside of our fishing adventure is that no one caught any fish! It was nice to spend some time together on the buys day with just our family.

Dive for Quarters and Swim Race
On the Fourth of July, the community pool in Blanding did a dive for quarters. The kids were divided into groups and dived for the money that was located at the bottom of the pool. Poor Hyrum didn't get anything, he was in the deep end and the youngest in his group. I also was parking the car and missed getting a picture of him.
Emmy and Ben made a killing! I couldn't believe how much money they were able to capture!
After the dive for quarters, swimming races were next. Ben decided he wanted to swim in the race. The length of the race was the length of the pool. Ben is still learning how to swim. Ben was the last person in his heat to finish by a long shot.
Everyone clapped for him when he got out of the pool. It was an emotional experience. I was so proud of him that he didn't give up and kept going even though he did something that was hard and difficult for him

4th of July Parade
One of the highlights of the Fourth of July in Blanding is the parade. Some of my memories growing up are attending the Blanding parade with my cousins! We were so excited to go and watch the small town parade.

The parade was fun! It was hot! There was a lot candy and small toys thrown!
There was lots of water being shot at everyone. In fact, Brandon held me in my place so the fire hose on the fire truck could shoot me! Lucy was shot at once and didn't like it! She decided the best spot for her was sitting with Papa and Grandma behind the umbrellas eating candy!
Yep, we all got really wet!
Ben was thrown a coin that was a coupon to go and get a cup of root beer from the local A&W. He thought he was pretty fancy and that his drink was delicious!
It was a fun parade with interesting and exciting floats, bands and people!
