Sledding in Utah

One thing which I was so excited for, about our visit to Utah, was the fact that my kids would be able to play in the snow. We don't receive very much snow out here in Memphis and as a result the kids haven't had very much experience with the snow.

On December 28th we went sledding on Grandma-Great's hill. My Grandma has the best hill for sledding! The kids were so excited when they found out they were going to be able to go sledding. You might remember this post from a couple of years ago when Hyrum went sledding on the same hill with Papa.

While we were finding sleds to borrow from some cousins, Hyrum decided that he would try going down the hill in a box. He didn't get very far. I think he still had fun in the box and thought he was pretty silly.Hyrum loved going down the big hill on the circle sled. He would go down the hill very quickly and would catch some air on the bumps my cousins had made on the hill. I love the expression on his face, in the picture below, which was taken right before he went down the hill.Hyrum and Mom on the circle sled. The boys had a fun time going down on the sled together too.Daddy, Emmy and Ben about to go down the hill.Emmy and Daddy getting ready to go down the hill.

Emmy enjoyed going down the hill with Papa. Can you tell the picture below was taken on the last run down. She was starting to get really cold!I realized there weren't very many pictures of Ben sledding. If I remember correctly, he was the first to go back inside to Grandma's because he was so cold.

No picture, but Brandon and I did go down the hill on the circle sled together. We caught some air and went pretty fast down the hill.

Grandma-Great had the heated blanket ready for the kids when they came back into the house. After the kids warmed up a bit, she had them come up to the counter in the kitchen and drink some hot chocolate. Grandma-Great even got out her tea-set for the kids to drink hot chocolate with. The kids were in heaven; especially Emmy.We had such a great time that day!

A few days later, after a huge snow storm, we went to a hill by Papa's house. It was too cold and the hill had too much snow for the kids to really enjoy sledding. It also didn't help that the hill was very steep and lots of snow would fly up in our faces as we went down the hill. They did have a good time making snow angels.Once again, they finished their sledding excursion off with having Aunt Millie making them some hot chocolate. I am glad the kids were able to truly experience snow during our trip to Utah.
