Ben and Emmy's Baptism

In the month of October our sweet Emmy and our sweet Ben turned eight years old. Turning eight is a big deal at our house. When a child turns eight, they are able to make the decision about whether or not they want to be baptized as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  As their parents, Brandon and I had prepared them their whole lives for this moment. We strove to teach them the way their Heavenly Father would have us guide them.

Towards the end of October, Ben and Emmy were able to meet with the bishop of our ward and have their baptismal interview to see if they were ready for baptism. Both Ben and Emmy were nervous, but were able to answer the questions from their heart.
Last Saturday, November 1st, my adorable twins were baptized as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Even before we made it to the church for the baptism, there was such a sweet spirit surrounding our family. It was tender and sweet to hear the kids request to sing their favorite primary songs on our drive to the church.

Before we got out of the car, Emmy commented that she was already feeling the Holy Ghost and that she had a good feeling.

To start the baptism service off, their grandmother, Brandon's Mother, gave a nice talk about the ordinance of baptism.

Both Ben and Emmy, with Emmy going first, were baptized by their father, Brandon. Ben and Emmy's grandfathers, stood as witnesses as they were baptized.

There was such a sweet and tender spirit as my two sweet children were baptized. Brandon and I both broke down in tears as our children were baptized and participated in their first ordinance of the Church.

After a wonderful talk on the Holy Ghost, our children were given the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Once again, a tender and sweet spirit accompanied the event of Ben and Emmy receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost from their father being surrounded by many different men who love them and also hold the priesthood.

After Ben received the gift of the Holy Ghost, Emmy went up to him and gave him a big hug.  They can be the best of friends at times.

We were fortunate to have so many family members come for the baptism. I also know that there were many who wished they could have been there.

Following the program for the evening, we invited everyone back to our house for some refreshments.

Brandon and I are so lucky to be Ben and Emmy's parents. They are wonderful children, who aren't perfect, but they are trying their best to be like the Savior.  It was such a special evening for our little family that I will always treasure.
