Family Home Evenings in December

We had some great Family Home Evenings during the month of December. For one of them, I told the story of Samuel the Lamanite on the wall as he prophesied the birth of the Savior. Of course, one of the favorite parts of the story is how when the Nephites tried to hurt Samuel the Lord protected him.

For the activity, we each took a turn standing on the chair while everyone tried to throw marshmellows at us. A little crazy, but lots of fun!For another Family Home Evening in December, we made Christmas Sugar Cookies and wrote letters to Santa. The kids loved helping me make the cookies. They were so cute as they rolled out the cookie dough and picked what cookie cutter to shape their dough. Of course, they loved eating it.Ben asked for a big boy bike from Santa. Hyrum asked for some Legos. Emmy asked for a Hippopotamus and a big girl bike for Christmas.Brandon told the kids that if they put their letters to Santa on the fireplace, that a elf would come and take the letters back to Santa. Of course, the night we put the letters out for the elf, daddy ended up falling asleep on the chair in the living room and the elf didn't come. However, the next night we made sure that daddy went to sleep in his own bed. The elf left behind some candy canes for the kids. The kids were so excited that an elf came and took their letters.
