Trip to Philly

At the end of June, Brandon and I were able to go on a trip by ourselves to Philadelphia! We were fortunate enough to have my mom and sister watch our kids while I tagged along with Brandon on his conference trip.

Brandon was so excited to show me all the things from his mission.  He was like a little boy. It was cute!

While Brandon was on his mission, he did service on the USS Olympia and USS Becuna. Brandon even ran into the guy that he used to work with. Brandon and I were able to go on our own private tour. Their was this older gentlemen on the Becuna who told us many interesting facts about serving on a submarine.

We saw some amazing things on this trip!

We even met up with some old friends from Memphis for lunch!

We loved going to the Reading Market! It is amazing!

Of course we ate a lot of cheese steaks! We tried three different places! YUM!

In our opinion, Pat's was the best! We also stopped and had shaved ice from Rita's. One of Brandon's favorite places he remembers from his mission.

We saw a fun musical How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. It was one of my favorite parts of the trip.

Our hotel was supper close to the new Philadelphia LDS temple.  We could see the lights from the roof of our hotel.

There is so much history in the city of Philadelphia.

We went up to the top of Penn Tower and we were able to see the city at such a great view!

One of the favorite things we did there was the tour of Independence Hall. There is such a unique and wonderful spirit in that building. It testified of  the hand that our Father in Heaven had in bringing freedom to our country that we lived in.

I really enjoyed listening to the audio tour of downtown Philidelphia!

Another highlight was the Phillies game! We had a great time watch the baseball game. Brandon's favorite of the night was the firework show.

We found some pretty fountains.

We climbed the infamous Rocky steps and found the Rocky statue.

When we stopped at the Ben Franklin post office to mail a post card home to our kids, the post master mentioned a unique place in Philly to get a treat. I can't remember the name, but it was set up as an old fashioned ice cream parlor. The treats were divine!

We also saw  Christs Church in Philadelphia. Many of the signers of both the Declaration and Constitution worshiped here. It was beautiful.

Brandon loved showing me his old mission sites. Here are pictures of his first apartment on his mission. We even stopped and had lunch at a pizza parlor where he would stop and eat on his mission.
Second apartment on Brandon's mission, Dover DE.

It was a such a wonderful trip. I am grateful for the time we had together to help remind us how much we love each other.
