4 Years Old Celebration

Ben and Emmy turned four in the month of October. They were eagerly anticipating the arrival of their birthday.

One of my favorite things from the day was telling Ben and Emmy that it was their special day. Emmy was shocked to find out that she was finally four. She did a cute little happy dance when she finally realized it.

Ben it also took a little bit to convince him that it was his birthday. He got really excited when he the realization dawned on him.

We started the morning off like any other birthday morning, with Mickey Mouse pancakes. This year we had a Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse Pancake.Ben and Emmy loved their pancakes!A special treat for Ben and Emmy's birthday was the fact that Hyrum was out of school due to Fall Break. Ben and Emmy love their "Bubba" as they now affectionately call him.

On Ben and Emmy's birthday, we invited some friends to come and meet us at a local park for cupcakes. Before we went to the park, we stopped and got Happy Meals from "Old McDonalds." We only get those meals on special occasions and birthdays are special occasions. The kids loved every minute of playing at the park with their friends. Ben and Emmy loved being sang to and blowing out their candles.
After the park, we went to the zoo with some friends. Ben, Emmy and Hyrum thought that the Halloween decorations were pretty neat. The kids loved looking at the animals and riding the rides at the zoo. Their favorite animal to look at was the Hippo. We went back multiple times to check out that amazing creature! On their birthday, it was a rainy day, so the zoo wasn't packed at all. We got excellent views of all the animals. When we came home from the zoo, we made homemade pizza for dinner. The kids LOVE making pizza with Brandon.
Snuggling with dad on their birthday.Hyrum took on the very important responsibility of making notes on each of the presents saying who they were from. He took his job very seriously.
After dinner, we sang Happy Birthday to Ben and Emmy and had cake and ice cream.Next, we opened presents. The kids received singing cards and gift cards from Grandma and Grandpa T. They thought the cards were so neat!Grandpa-Great B. sent the kids money, four dollars each for being four years old. The kids also received a dollar and some stickers from Grandma-Great B.

Hyrum gave Ben and Emmy new pencils and crayons as well as fun new books.Aunt Millie gave Ben and Emmy each a fun card that she made and some new books.Sean gave Ben an awesome motorcycle and Emmy make-up and a new purse.Aunt Lorri and family gave the kids dot paints. We LOVE the dot paints in this house and have already put them to such good use.Papa Van and Grandma B. gave Ben Toy Story 2 and Emmy a new princess dress-up outfit.
Grandma and Papa Van also gave Ben and Emmy new clothes. They were both so excited for their clothes. The kids also received silly bands from my parents too.Brandon and I gave Ben a Woody dress-up kit and some Toy Story 3 bath toys. We gave Emmy some princess wands and some princess bath toys.At the end of the night we let the kids each pick one present to open-up. Ben picked his Woody dress-up outfit and even found a toy horse to ride. Emmy picked her silly bands to open, but also snuck in a quick look at her new book.Overall, it was such a fantastic fun filled day to celebrate such sweet spirits that Heavenly Father sent into our home. We are so lucky to have these crazy kids.
